Our NAWBO New Orleans Chapter hosted its October meeting with a luncheon at Ralph's on the Park on October 18th. Members and guests filled the room to hear our fabulous guest speaker, Ulla Gaudin of Tiffin and Posh. As a celebrity makeup artist and style watcher, she was on a mission to help us recognize how our self-esteem has been under attack through media and advertising that targets women.
Did you know we have 17 seconds to wow the person you are meeting for the first time? Did you know that the measurements for women's clothing were taken in 1939? Did you know that we wear only 20% of our clothing 80% of the time?
Ulla took us through the concept of "slow fashion" - building your wardrobe with a few quality pieces that remain timeless. Adding other quality pieces to your wardrobe will keep you trendy without breaking the bank. She challenged us to feel trendy, professional, successful, glamorous, and unstoppable through the "power pose" with hands raised high as if to say, "I am more than enough"!
